Don’t Mix with the Mob
I came home from work one afternoon and saw a tan Mercedes sitting next to Luann’s in the driveway. I parked my pickup on the street and got out. Three men walked up to me. All three wore suits, Rolex watches and expensive Italian shoes polished to a high gloss. I’d seen pictures and recognized the man in the lead as Luann’s husband. His no-neck buddies moved like The Hulk behind him.“
I’m Frank D’Angelo.”“Stevie Ray Hansen.”“Gather up your stuff and get out.”“Naw, I don’t think so. She’s divorcing you.”“Do you like life?”“I love life.”“Then you’d better get your stuff and get out.”They turned to leave and then Frank stopped and repeated, “Do it if you like life.”
I watched them leave and then went inside. “Are you all right?” Luann said, her eyes wide.“Of course I’m all right. I’m not worried about him.”“Good, because he’s going to put a lot of pressure on you to leave.”“I’ve had pressure before.”We climbed into bed and turned out the light. She was silhouetted in moonlight. “I’m not kidding,” she said again. “He’s going to put a lot of pressure on you.”“Funny thing,” I said chuckling. “Those guys looked and acted like they were mobsters.”“Yeah, they are.”“What do you mean?”“I mean that Frank’s dad heads the Los Angeles branch of the family. They’re mobsters and Frank is next in line.”“So…you’re married to the mob?”“Yeah, I thought I mentioned that.”
God responds to every call for help. But whether or not that answer is the one we most desire is up to God. God works for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28) and for His glory. We can trust that He will always respond to cries for help in accordance to His good and perfect will. Even when the psalmist was searching for a seemingly absent God, he chose to live by faith: “But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me” (Psalm 13:5–6).

Evil men don’t understand the importance of justice, but those who follow the Lord are much concerned about it. ~ Proverbs 28:5
Jesus come quick, there is nothing left in society that’s sacred….
It is impossible to find anyone in the Bible who was a power for God who did not have enemies and was not hated.
